Tour Operator who can help to arrange adventure tour in India, water rafting, hiking and also arrange some accommodation.

There are several tour operators operating in this space. There are several trekking clubs who specialise in trekking and mountaineering activities. And these are spread all over India.

In Delhi, there is an association which specially caters to adventure tourism. It is " Adventure Tour Operators Association of India". Please visit their website for information : www.atoai.org. Hope this will help you.

In Mumbai there are several tour operators providing such services.

Providing accomodation is a part and parcel of their services.

Wish you pleasant memories of your holidays.

Should I book a tour in Costa Rica or just make the plans myself?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

My family (2 adults, 2 young kids) is considering a vacation in Costa Rica. The rainforest is calling out to us — and maybe the Pacific coast too. We’d like to hike in the forest, try a zip line, a canopy tour, see some waterfalls, monkeys, butterflies, and maybe even a volcano. Is it better to plan things myself (and rent a car) or just go with a tour?

If you want to avoid the hassle, then definitely book a tour. You will have your itinerary planned out and you won’t have to worry about a thing. There are many tour companies in Costa Rica who specialize in the adventure that you are looking for. You should have no problems finding one. You can try the TicosLand.com website. We have some travel agencies listed that can help you find what you are looking for.
You can find a lot more information about Costa Rica in the TicosLand.com website.

Looking for recommendations on tour operators for Machu Picchu/Inca trail?

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

I am big on hiking. Would like to take a 3-4 days hike up to Machu Picchu. Plus Lake Titicaca if possible. Please share your reco for tour operators.

I do a lot of trekking in Peru and have contacts in the business, and the people I do my trekking with (independents) recommend for the Inca trail: Aventours, Explorandes and, strangely enough, Amazonas Explorer. I’m enclosing their web pages.

Grand Canyon hiking tours company?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Can anyone suggest a good company that offers multi-day camping/hiking trips through the Grand Canyon? I would love to visit Havasu Falls, but it’s not totally necessary. Thanks for the help!

You don’t need a tour company. Just hike down into the Grand Canyon. Any bozo can do it. You cannot get lost if you stay on or near the trails. Bring a compass or GPS just in case.

What is a good Australian travel/tour company?

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I’m planning on going on a trip to Australia for a week sometime in summer or fall of 2008, and am trying to find a good company to purchase a tour from. I’m single and in my early twenties, so I’m not really looking for a family-type vacation. I’d like something with some level of adventure to it. I like a lot of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and boating, as well as going to parties and bars. Does anyone know a travel company or website that offers some kind of tour? Or should I just buy a plane ticket and plan my own vacation?

I live in Aussie so personally I haven’t taken and ‘tours’ as a ‘tourist’.
Google ‘outback adventures’ you’ll get loads of responses then it’s a matter of working out your starting point.
Personally if you are young and on your own I would rather plan my own trip. However if you are looking for adventure come to Cairns! North Queensland

Do you need to pay for a tour to see the Grand Canyon?

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I’m planning a trip to the grand canyon and I’d like to know if you NEED to buy one of those package trips that you hike/drive/ride around the Grand Canyon. Is there a place that you can at least take pictures for free? Any place to hike/swim free or is it all tours? Also, if anyone has gone there and would like to reccomend a tour or site itd be greatly appreciated!

I tried to read those last comments but fell asleep.
.
I guess I will just wait for the movie.

What is the best way to tour the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas?

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Okay, I’ll be in Vegas from Sep. 1 thru the 5th. I’m thinking of taking a day trip from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon. What is the best way to do this? planes, trains or rental car? I just wanted to get a feel of what the Grand Canyon is like to prepare for a more longer stay on my next visit (camping & hiking). I’m leaning towards taking a bus tour that takes us to Hoover Dam, Route 66 and all other Desert stops. Let me know guys and girls!

If you don’t mind driving 675 miles in one day
Enter exactly this into mapquest or a similar service and get an early start.
LAS>Hurricane UT > additional stops :Colorado City AZ > Lee’s Ferry AZ >Cameron AZ GCN>LAS >675 miles
Notes
*:Get gas in Hurricane , Cameron , & Kingman-
*At Lee’s Ferry make a left just before the bridge and dip your toes in the Rio
*You don’t have the time to make the right at Jacob Lake and visit the N.Rim proper-sorry

This routing is about 50 miles longer than LAS >FLG >Cameron AZ >GCN >LAS is
But having driven both routes many times and in every month of the year the routing thru Hurricane is one of my favorite routings in the West-just stunning and well worth the 50 miles.

You want to rent a car w/ more than adequate hp for this trip bc there is a lot of climbing involved and many places where you will need to pull out and pass on high speed two lane roads

My thinking is that the 250 mile drive from Grand Canyon to Las Vegas is pretty boring anyway so if do most of it in the dark, you haven’t missed much . If you make the right onto SR 64 at Cameron by around 2:30 PM you’ll be fine.
